National Paper Bag Day: Paper bags distributed to roadside vendors

Mysore/Mysuru: In a bid to discourage public from using plastic covers and bags, and to create awareness on the harm caused to the environment by plastic, National Paper Bag Day is being celebrated on July 12.

On the eve of the celebration, Paradise Scouts Group and Pragathi Guides Group of Bharat Scouts and Guides, in association with Pragathi Pratishtan, prepared paper bags and distributed the same to roadside vendors free of cost yesterday.

Members of Scouts, Guides, Rovers, Rangers and Pragathi Pratishtan, who assembled at Bharat Scouts and Guides premises yesterday morning, prepared about 500 paper bags under the guidance of retired teacher Saraswathi Suresh and distributed them to roadside vendors besides creating awareness on the ill-effects of plastic.

Pragathi Pratishtan President Dr. Ajay Kumar Jain, Manager Kavyashree, Member Rohini and others were present.
