Mysuru: Farooqia College of Pharmacy, in association with Mysore District Chemists and Druggists Welfare Association (MDCDWA) and the College’s Alumni Association, had organised National Pharmacy Educational Day and International Women’s Day celebrations at its premises in city yesterday.
The event brought together faculty members, students, pharmacists and distinguished guests to highlight the importance of pharmacy education and to recognise the remarkable contributions of women in healthcare and beyond.
The programme began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by welcome address by Principal Dr. Nisar Ahmed. Secretary of MDCDWA Amanulla Khan delivered the keynote address on National Pharmacy Educational Day, emphasising the expanding role of pharmacists in patient care, research and public health.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Conservator of Forests Dr. Malathi Priya, Assistant Drug Controller B.V. Ashalatha and Professor at Farooqia College of Pharmacy Dr. Sumayya Tabassum were felicitated for their dedication and leadership, inspiring the next generation of women.
Dr. Malathi Priya spoke about women empowerment in achieving sustainable development goals and also about barriers inhibiting women advancement in decision making roles.
Social Activist Nabeel Mohamed Khan, who delivered Presidential address, spoke on the importance on resilience, strength and their struggles in daily life where innocent women are targeted, humiliated and raped. He also spoke on the importance of education for women.
The programme concluded with the National Anthem, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing pharmacy education and elevating the role of women in diverse fields.
President of MDCDWA Kumaraswamy, President of Farooqia College of Pharmacy Alumni Association Waseem Ur Rahman Shariff, General Secretary of Farooqia College of Pharmacy Alumini Association Saleem Ahmed and others were present.
