National Pharmacy Week in city: Role of Pharmacists during Covid-19 pandemic lauded

Mysore/Mysuru: An initiative of Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), National Pharmacy Week (NPW) is a channel to create awareness among the general public about the profession of Pharmacist and the role he plays to make a healthier India. The theme for this year is “Pharmacist: An Integral Part of Healthcare.”

The major focus of NPW celebrations is to create awareness among the public, other healthcare providers and the authorities, about the NPW theme.

Acknowledging the invaluable contributions that the Pharmacists make to the healthcare system, IPA, Mysuru branch, is celebrating the 60th National Pharmacy Week from Dec.13 to 18 jointly with JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru.

Dr. Surinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, who inaugurated the function at Sri Rajendra Auditorium, mentioned the role of Pharmacists in building the health of the society.

Stating that today there are many ways by which Pharmacists can help patients based on their requirements, he emphasised on the role of Pharmacists during the Covid-19 pandemic situation and appreciated the work rendered by the fellow Pharmacists. Dr. T.M. Pramod Kumar, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, welcomed. Dr. Hanumathachar Joshi, Principal, Sarada Vilas College of Pharmacy and Dr. M. Manjunata, Professor, Cauvery College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, were present. Dr. R.S. Chandan, Secretary, IPA, Mysuru branch, proposed a vote of thanks.

Inter-college contest

As part of Pharmacy Week, Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Mysuru branch, had also organised “INITIUM-2021,” an inter-collegiate competition on Dec.14.

Students from Cauvery College of Pharmacy, Sarada Vilas College of Pharmacy and JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru, participated in the competition.

Initium-2021 started with collage-making followed by photography, solo dance, spotlight, group song and group dance.
