Mysuru: A.S. Abhishek, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, GSSSIETW, Mysuru, has received the prestigious National Youth Icon Award-2019 given by International Youth Committee at Constitution Club of India, New Delhi, recently. He is one among 70 youths across the globe who was honoured with this award.
Abhishek, hailing from Alur village in Chamarajanagar district, is a Science Communicator, Educator and Science Promoter in rural areas of Chamarajanagar, Mysuru and different parts of Karnataka to popularise Basic Sciences among students as well as in general public. He is currently working as Assistant Professor in Physics at GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru and Founder-Secretary of Gravity Science Foundation, Chamarajanagar.
In order to promote Basic Sciences among School and College students, he started to serve in the field of Science since 2012. From last 8 years, he has visited hundreds of Schools, Colleges and delivered many Science lectures. He has reached thousands of students and demonstrated many experiments in the remote areas of Karnataka and motivated tribal children also.
He is conducting many scientific programmes for students, teachers and general public through his Gravity Science Foundation.
Abhishek has received several awards and honours including the Young Scientist Award, Keerthishree Award and Innovative Teacher Award; has represented Karnataka in many National Conferences and has been nominated as Scientific Advisor for many Schools and Colleges. He is also a Life-Member of many professional bodies like Indian Association of Physics Teachers, KRVP etc.
