Mysore/Mysuru: As part of Social Service activity, NCC Cadets and staff of 14 Karnataka Battalion visited Devdan Foundation, a School for Special Children in city recently.

The School caters to the needs of children with multiple disabilities including intellectual disability, cerebral palsy autism and down syndrome.

The School has special curriculum to cater to the various needs of each student as well as having specialist teachers and routines.

The cadets interacted with the students, organised games, cultural activities and yoga for the children. Books, stationery items and snacks were distributed to the students. Prizes were given to winners of various activities.

Commanding Officer Col. Manish Prasad said that ‘it is our duty to ensure that the NCC cadets apart from their routine NCC activities must also indulge themselves in certain realistic social service activities and lend their hand towards the society which is a small gesture that shows our commitment towards the community.’ JUO D. Aishwarya of JSS College, Ooty Road, said ‘the interaction with the children was a lifetime experience and an eye-opener.’

JUO Jahnavi of JSS Women College said that meeting, interacting and playing with these special children was like a dream. “There is so much innocence and simplicity in them. I realised the true sense of social service activity,” she added.
