Sir,
Mysuru Railway Station, despite receiving several accolades for its services, sadly falls short when it comes to ensuring basic accessibility for all.
It is deeply disappointing to witness the plight of physically challenged individuals, senior citizens and passengers with heavy luggage who are forced to struggle due to the poor maintenance of essential amenities.
Though lakhs of public funds were invested in installing lifts and escalators to aid passenger movement between platforms, the lack of proper upkeep has rendered these facilities largely unusable. What was meant to ease travel has become a source of frustration and discomfort.
The Railways must recognise that accessibility is not a luxury but a necessity. Rather than inadvertently harassing passengers through neglect, they should take immediate steps to ensure regular maintenance and smooth functioning of these facilities. It is time to extend a helping hand and address these avoidable travel woes with urgency and empathy.
