Mysuru:  The newly-elected MCC Corporators were felicitated by Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji at a programme organised in the Suttur Mutt premises at the foot of Chamundi Hill here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, former MLA Vasu said that the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC)  has a special name among City Corporations in the country.

Observing that the Corporators know the problems more clearly than any other people representative, Vasu said that there are many instances in the city when a Corporator has gone on to become an MLA and he himself, L. Nagendra, Tanveer Sait, late H.S. Shankaraligegowda were among them.

Noting that Politicians are elected by the people, Vasu advised the newly-elected Corporators to appropriately respond to public grievances.

Highlighting the role of Suttur Mutt in the development of Mysuru, the former MLA said that the Mutt’s contribution to health, education, agriculture and other service ssectors was enormous.

Stating that the Suttur Mutt Seers felicitation has increased the responsibilities of the newly elected corporators, Vasu asked the Corporators not to shy away from their responsibilities.

Former Mayors P. Vishwanath, B.K. Prakash, H.N. Srikantaiah, R. Lingappa and others were present during the programme.
