Mysuru;  Internationally renowned Agricultural Scientist Dr. Vasanth Kumar Thimakapura was elected as the new President of the University of Mysore (UoM) Alumni Association (UMAA) under the Chairmanship of erstwhile President K. Arkesh recently.

The other newly-elected office-bearers are: Dr. G. Hemanth Kumar, Professor of Computer Science and N.  Niranjan Nikam, Senior Journalist as Vice-Presidents; Dr. S. Umesha, Associate Professor of Biotechnology as Secretary and Dr. K.N. Amruthesh, Assistant Professor of Botany, as Treasurer.

The Executive Committee also formed various Sub-Committees of UMAA: Dr. K.A. Raveesha, former Professor of Botany – Chairman, Programme Organising Sub-Committee; Dr. V. Jagannath, former ISRO Scientist – Chairman, Membership Drive Sub-Committee and Dr. Nandini Murthy, Nutritionist – Chairperson of ICT Sub-Committee.  

The Association has, in a press release, invited membership from all eligible graduates of the UoM.
