Newly built RCC drain wall collapses in just 7 months

June 1, 2025

Sir,

A recently constructed RCC drain wall by the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) on Vidyaranyapuram Main Road, in front of Kalyani Motors, has collapsed barely seven months after completion.

The debris from the wall has now blocked the drain, causing stagnant water and raising concerns over potential flooding and public health hazards. The shoddy construction has turned into a glaring example of negligence, with taxpayers’ money literally flowing down the drain.

We demand strict accountability, urging MCC to take immediate action against the contractor and engineers responsible for the substandard work. With crores being spent annually on civic infrastructure, such premature structural failures point to serious lapses in oversight and quality control.
