Mandya:  A couple, who got married about 20 days ago, committed suicide at Anchedoddi village in Malavalli taluk yesterday.

The deceased couple are Naveen (25) and Ashwini (21), both residents of Hebbakawadi village in the district.

Naveen and Ashwini, who were in love, had got married on Varamahalakshmi Festival day despite opposition from their families and were staying in Naveen’s grandmother house at Anchedoddi village.

Yesterday, when no one was there in the house, the couple, after writing a death note in which they stated that they were responsible for their death, committed suicide by hanging self to the wooden beam at the house and the incident came to light when Naveen’s grandparents came to the house and saw them hanging.

Malavalli Rural Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
