NIE annual fest ‘techNIEks-2020’

Mysuru/Mysore: The annual fest of National Institute of Engineering (NIE) ‘techNIEKs- 2020,’ will be held from Mar. 5 to 7 at the College premises on Manandawadi Road in city.

Mar. 1: As a prelude to the fest, ‘techNIEks Run’, a run for a cause- Autism, will be held on Mar. 1 at 5.45 am, which will commence from Golden Jubilee Block in the College premises. The marathon will be held in three categories-  5k, 12k and 21k. The run begins at NIE campus and covers all the hotspots of Mysuru. 

Participants will be given T-shirts, participation certificates and breakfast.

The 5k marathon will be flagged off at 6.15 am; 12k at 6.30 am and the 21k event at 6 am. The proceeds would be donated to Aashianaa, an Institute for special children at Udayagiri.

Mar. 2: As part of the fest, a Book Expo will be held.

Mar. 5: ‘Battle of Bands,’ a National-level music competition will be held in which musicians from across the country would participate.

Mar. 6: Kannada Day: Photography Expo, cultural programmes, Fashion Show and other events will be held.

Mar. 7: Traditional dress competition for College students,  cultural programmes and Electronic Dance Music (EDM) will be held.

Post techNIEKs- 2020 events: Hackathon contest will be held on Apr. 2; Internship Drive on Apr. 3 and Paper presentations on Apr. 4.

Music contest at NIE

Sangeet Shatranj, a music competition will be held tomorrow (Feb. 29) at Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Hall in the Admin Block of the College premises, from 10 am onwards.

The competition will be held in different categories: Vocal, Hindustani and Karnatak; Instrumental – Percussion and Non-Percussion. 

Renowned Karnatak vocalist Vid. N.R. Prashanth will be the chief guest. Participants should be between 16 and 25 years and can win prizes worth Rs.12,000.
