NIE celebrates International Bio-Fuel Day

Mysuru: International Bio-Fuel Day was celebrated at National Institute of Engineering (NIE) in city recently.

DCF Nagaraju, who inaugurated the programme at the Golden Jubilee Complex of NIE on Manandawadi Road, highlighted the importance of protection and conservation of forests.

He also created awareness on bio-fuel plant species like Pongamia, Mesua Pheria and others. The programme involved demonstration of bio-fuel display materials and bio-fuel seedlings at NIE Golden Jubilee Complex.

Murthuz Ali, Project Engineer, IREPA, Mysuru ZP, Dr. G. Ravi, Principal, NIE, Srikanth of DEED, Hunsur, Faculty and students of NIE were present at the programme. S. Shamsundar, Associate Professor, Coordinator, District Bio-energy Research, Information and Demonstration Centre (DBRIDC) at NIE-CREST, gave a brief talk on role of biodiesel in energy and environmental conservation

The programme was organised by DBRIDC, NIE-CREST and Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and sponsored by Karnataka State Bioenergy Development Board (KSBDB).
