Mysuru: One of the most significant impacts of the pandemic is the hurdles faced by students and teachers alike to conduct classes from remote locations. With teachers and institutes all over the world coming out with innovative solutions for online learning, the National Institute of Engineering (NIE), Mysuru, inaugurated its new Centre for eLearning in city recently.
The Centre was inaugurated by Dr. M.S. Ranganath, President of NIE Management in the presence of K.S. Sundar, Associate Vice-President, Infosys Ltd.
The NIE Centre for eLearning has been created to enable state-of-the-art facility for e-learning content development using new modern tools & technology and to involve the industry in the teaching learning experience at the Institute, according to C.K. Sanjay Kumar, Coordinator, NIE Centre for E-learning (NICE).
Speaking at the event, Sundar expounded the role of a teacher in all forms of learning. He said that the role of a teacher in education has reached new paradigms and with the balance of class room teaching and hands-on experience constantly changing, it is imperative that institutions are on the cutting edge of educational technology.
On the occasion, NIE Principal Dr. N.V. Raghavendra honoured its faculty members who have developed intellectual property and were awarded patents for their research work in the past year. Faculty patents included everything from novel approaches to using construction material and reduction of particulate pollution from diesel engines to the use of remote learning to teach laboratory classes.
The Institute also felicitated Dr. B. Suresha, who has been featured in the recent list of world’s Top 2% Scientists prepared by Stanford University, USA and Elsevier BV, a Netherlands-based publishing company. Dr. K. Pushpalatha, Dean (Research & Development), was present at the event.
