Team NIE has won the first round in EDUSAT building competition jointly organised by ‘Abdul Kalam Vision India Movement’, Chennai, ‘Aeolus Aero Tech Pvt. Ltd,’ Bengaluru and International ‘We Serve’ Foundation, Inc., Lexington, US. The competition which was held online in October 2016 invited participants to provide concepts in developing Educational Satellite (EDUSAT) and its execution. A total of 200 teams participated in the competition in which 10 teams were selected. This was achieved by conducting an essay competition in which students had to propose innovative concepts for the utility of a cube satellite.
These teams will participate in building of EDUSAT who will be guided by retired scientists from ISRO. The selected teams will be required to design, develop and validate an operational cube satellite ‘AK-EDU-SAT-001’. The team is currently working on the detailed report for submission on Mar.31 and is confident of executing the project along with the other teams successfully.
Team NIE-Achievers has won the competition AK-EDUSAT. The team consists of Assistant Professor from Department of Mechanical Engineering N. Sharath Chandra as mentor. The students include Suraj K. Mathew, Sanket K. Shetty, N.H.Shreyas, D. Vikas and G.N. Abhiram.
The team was awarded the prize at KCG College of Technology, Chennai, on Mar.11.
