Night-long Kavya Jugalbandi to mark ‘Dharege Doddavara Utsava-3’

Mysore/Mysuru: A night-long programme featuring Manteswamy Kathana Kavya Jugalbandi titled ‘Dharege Doddavara Utsava-3’ will be held from 6 pm on Mar. 22 till 6 am on Mar. 23 at Kalamandira.

Announcing this at a press meet at Maneyangala in Kalamandira here on Thursday, Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Channappa said that the night-long Utsava held twice in the past at Kalamandira had received good public response.

Now the third edition will be held on the evening of Mar. 22, with the theme – ‘Naavu Kooguva Koogu Nimma Padakkaruvagalappa,’ he said adding that the Department is conducting the event in association with Mysuru’s Bharatiya Reserve Bank Note Mudran Private Limited.

Pointing out that the night-long event will feature Kavya Gayana programmes, with one Kavya Gayana every hour starting from 6 pm, Channappa said that the programme will be live-streamed in social media networks including YouTube. Also, the programme this year will be digitised, he said adding that Neelagaras, Dasas, Guddappas, Jogappas and Sobaane artistes have been invited to the programme.

Channappa further said that prior to the start of the programme, a ‘Kandaya’ procession will be taken out at 4 pm on the same day. The procession, which will be launched from Manteswamy Gadduge near Gayathri Talkies on Chamaraja Double Road, which will pass through N.S. Road, D. Devaraj Urs Road and Vinoba Road, before culminating at Kalamandira.

Folk Scholar Dr. Krishnamurthy Hanur released a poster of the event on the occasion.

Folk artiste Dr. Mysore Gururaj and others were present at the press meet.
