December 12, 2019

Bengaluru: Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has said that the residence of former Chief Minister late S. Nijalingappa at Chitradurga will be converted into a Memorial.

Speaking to presspersons after garlanding the bust of S. Nijalingappa in Vidhana Soudha premises on his birth anniversary here on Tuesday, Yediyurappa said that although there have been talks on converting Nijalingappa’s residence into a Memorial for some time now, there has been little headway regarding the issue. But now, the Government will initiate the process of purchasing his house and convert it into a Memorial, he pointed out.

Recalling the contributions of Nijalingappa for the unification of Karnataka State and his service as the Chief Minister twice, Yediyurappa said that the responsibility of the Memorial has been entrusted to Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
