Nipah toll in Kerala rises to 14

Kozhikode: The death toll due to deadly Nipah Virus (NiV) infection in Kerala climbed to 14 with one more person succumbing in this district on Sunday.

Sources said, Abhin (26), hailing from Palazi, breathed his last due to high fever caused by the brain damaging virus in a private hospital.

Sources said nine persons with the symptoms of NiV Infection were admitted to Kozhikode Medical College today.

Apart from this, 175 persons were under close observation for the virus in various hospitals in the state, Health Department sources said.
