No Congress ticket for those indulging in anti-party activities: Khandre

June 24, 2019

Mysuru:  KPCC Working President Eshwar Khandre has said that only loyal Congress leaders and workers will be considered for issuing party tickets in future elections.

Addressing party workers at the Congress office near the City Railway Station on Sunday, Khandre maintained that those indulging in anti-party activities will not be given the Congress ticket in the future.

Calling party workers to work only for those candidates chosen by the party, Khandre reiterated that party loyalty comes first in the allotment of tickets.

Stating that the Lok Sabha election results was a shock for him, Khandre said that, however, the Congress has maintained its base in Mysuru region, going by the results of Local Body Polls.

Noting that the party must be built under the leadership of CLP leader and former CM Siddharamaiah, he said that the Congress will be strengthened by the organisational skills of KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao, senior leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, D.K. Shivakumar and others.

Admitting that there are a few problems in the Congress, just like any other party, Khandre said that the Congress always stood for social justice. Calling for a serious introspection on the reasons for the party’s defeat in the LS Polls, Khandre emphasized on the need for changing the Congress campaign mechanism and underlined the need for organising the party at all levels, right from the grassroot level.

MLA Tanveer Sait, MLC R. Dharmasena, former MP C.H. Vijayshankar, former MLA Vasu, District Congress President Dr. B.K. Vijay Kumar, City Congress President R. Murthy, KPCC Women’s Wing President Dr. Pushpa Amarnath, Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath, leaders Prakash, Nagesh Kariappa, Abdul Khader and others were present.

Followers demand Cabinet berth for Tanveer Sait

At the meeting, followers of NR MLA and former Minister Tanveer Sait demanded a Cabinet berth for their leader. The supporters presented a memorandum to Eshwar Khandre, seeking induction of Tanveer Sait to the Cabinet of the Coalition Government.

Responding to the plea, Khandre said that Tanveer Sait is a senior and loyal Congress leader, who has stood with the party during difficult times.

Stating that Sait deserves a Cabinet berth, Khandre however maintained that it was the party High Command which decides on who should be included in the Cabinet. Being a very loyal party leader, Sait can look forward for better days, he added.
