New Gundlupet MLA Ganesh Prasad puts notice board in front of his Kuvempunagar house against extravagant spending
Mysore/Mysuru: A notice board has been hung on the gate of a house in city, which reads in Kannada: “Vishesha Soochane – Beti Madalu Baruva Janathe Yavude Reethiya Hoovina Guchcha, Haara Haagu Udugoregalannu Tarabaradagi Vinanti” (Special Instructions- People coming to meet me should not bring any bouquet, garland or gift).
Newly elected Gundlupet MLA H.M. Ganesh Prasad, son of former Minister late H.S. Mahadeva Prasad, has hung the above board in front of his house ‘Deva Geetha’ on 4th Cross, Gaganachumbi Double Road, Kuvempunagar in city.
This follows the recent move of Chief Minister Siddharamaiah issuing an order not to offer him any gifts or felicitations along with garlands and bouquets, other than books.
Taking a cue from the CM, Ganesh Prasad along with his wife Vidya hung the board in front of his house to avoid any extravagant spending.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, Ganesh Prasad said ‘Following my victory in the election, people are thronging my house to wish me along with garlands, shawls, petas, bouquets, basket of fruits and other items. The garlands and bouquets fade fast and will be rendered waste. Hence, those coming to see me, should visit in empty hand. Instead of spending money on felicitations, the same amount can be given to Government Schools for the benefit of students. So, the name board has been erected to make a similar appeal among visitors to my house.’
