DLSA Member-Secretary B.P. Devamane at awareness programme
Mysuru: “Public, children and labourers should not use goods vehicles as a mode of transport. If people travelling in goods vehicle meet with an accident, the victims will not get any insurance claims,” said District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Member-Secretary B.P. Devamane.
He was speaking after inaugurating an awareness programme on ‘Ferrying passengers in goods vehicles is illegal,’ organised by DLSA at Atlantic Apparels, Unit-2 in Belavadi Industrial Area here on Monday.
Continuing, Devamane said that it is important to know the laws and added that children, labourers and other members of the public are travelling in goods vehicles which is a crime according to the Supreme Court order. Stating that no one should go against the laws, Devamane urged the public and labourers to approach DLSA office located in Jayanagar if they have legal issues.
RTO Prabhuswamy, who also spoke, said that if there are problems pertaining to inadequate public transport facilities for factory employees to go to their work places, concerned Department would take steps to solve the problem and urged the employees not to travel in goods vehicles.
