‘No place for honest officers’

July 18, 2017

Mysuru: Former Minister and MLA S. Suresh Kumar, reacting to the shunting of DIG (Prisons) Roopa D. Moudgil following her report about the irregularities in the Parappana Agrahara Central Prisons and the alleged involvement of the higher ups, said that there is no place for honest officers in the State.

Speaking to the media after participating in the 98th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Jayachamaraja Wadiyar at Hardinge Circle, he said that it is sad to see the government punishing honest officers and rewarding the dishonest ones. The Parappana Agrahara Central Prisons is a den of corruption and even narcotic substances are used there. Hence, high profile prisoners who are given luxurious treatment do not want to go out as they enjoy the best of the facilities, he charged.

He said that unless the government stops protecting the guilty and upholds the honest officer’s work, the situation will never improve.
