No rule to invite MLAs to all meetings, functions: Former Speaker Krishna

Mysuru: Former Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly Krishna, has said there is a protocol that officials must invite legislators and elected representatives to only a few meetings and functions but it is not applicable to everything.

He told Star of Mysore, “There is no rule to say that officials must invite MLAs and elected representatives to every functions and programmes. Already, a protocol has been fixed under which MLAs’ and elected representatives must be invited without fail and not following it amounts to breach of privilege which can be moved in the State Legislature. However, I don’t know whether the Spandana Programme-the bone of contention between MLAs and Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri, come under the list of protocol. I have to check it and tell,” he added.

Krishna said “I am not sure whether the letter written by DC to MLA Manjunath which was uploaded on Social Media platform will come under the ambit of privilege. It may not be possible for the Presiding Officer to decide that this issue amounts to breach of privilege.”
