Mysore/Mysuru: In the wake of the State Government issuing a circular mandating that all Government and private hospitals maintain uninterrupted stocks of anti-rabies vaccines, equine rabies immunoglobulin and anti-snake venom, Mysuru District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. P.C. Kumaraswamy told Star of Mysore this morning that all hospitals across Mysuru district currently have adequate supplies.

“Each Primary Health Centre in Mysuru has two units each of anti-rabies vaccines and anti-snake venom, while every Community Health Centre at the taluk level has 10 sets to treat dog bite and snakebite cases. There is no shortage. As soon as vaccines are utilised, fresh stocks are immediately procured from the district headquarters,” he clarified.

Dr. H.P. Shobha, Medical Superintendent of K.R. Hospital, also confirmed that regular stocks are available to treat dog bite and snakebite cases.

“There is no scarcity and fresh indents are placed whenever existing stock is used. We routinely treat such cases in the emergency section and shift patients to general wards once they stabilise. We do not have a dedicated ward for these cases, but we are managing effectively with the resources and facilities available,” she said.
