Noise pollution by street hawkers

September 8, 2021

Sir,

I fully endorse the opinion expressed by Dr. M. Shyamprasad (Curb noise pollution by street hawkers, SOM dated Aug.28).

The street hawkers use amplifiers for their business and to give relief to their throats by continuously giving their products notification. No doubt it is helpful to them but it causes irritation to the residents and listeners.

Daily about 8 to 10 hawkers come on the streets with amplifiers. As this is a residential area, it causes irritation to residents, especially during afternoons. Hence, it is requested that the Departments concerned fix a limit to the sound by way of decibels.
