Mysore/Mysuru: Shravan Manjunath Nagesh has been nominated for ‘Young Citizen of the Year’ Award on Jan. 26, 2023, which is observed as Australia Day in Australia.
The Day commemorates the arrival of the first fleet of ships from Britain in 1788 and as part of the celebrations, on this day every year, awards are handed out to citizens of Australia who have contributed meritoriously to the growth, prosperity, unity and harmony of the nation. These awards are given to citizens from all walks of life who have done notable work in society.
In 2021, Shravan was appointed as ‘Justice of the Peace’ (JP) for New South Wales in Australia. 30-year-old Shravan was nominated for this award by citizens from the Parramatta City Council he resides and works. He has been nominated for providing free and voluntary JP services, after working hours at his residence and public libraries.
Some of the services he provided in his capacity are attesting statutory declarations, affidavits, certifying loan applications, visa applications, job applications, university admission applications and many more duties.
A native of Gonikoppal in South Kodagu, Shravan was born to Nagesh Krishna and Deena Nagesh. He completed his graduation in Mechanical Engineering at Bengaluru before migrating to Sydney in 2019. His grandfather late Dr. B.S. Ganesh Kumar retired as Joint Director of Agriculture from Mysuru.
