Bengaluru: In an effort to enhance the quality of training and evaluation in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), the State Government has decided to hand over the responsibility of conducting ITI exams to Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).
On Monday, Secretary of Skills Development Department Selvakumar and Principal Secretary of Higher Education Department Kumar Nayak signed and exchanged the documents in the presence of Deputy CM and Minister of Higher Education Dr. C.N. Ashwathanarayana.
Earlier, Karnataka Vocational Training and Skill Development Corporation Ltd., used to conduct ITI exam, but many concerns were raised about the nature of the exam and about its transparency.
In the wake of these objections, Dr. Ashwathanarayana had promised to discuss this matter with experts. Now, as per the experts’ opinion, all exam related activities including preparation of question papers, distribution of hall tickets, evaluation of answer papers and announcement of results will be undertaken by KEA.
