Nruthya Bhushana: Classical theme-based Natl. Dance Festival from Nov. 12 to 14

Mysuru, patronised by the erstwhile Maharajas, is always known for its rich art and culture. Many Dance Festivals are conducted in this Cultural Capital of Karnataka throughout the year. But the need for an intellectual, classic and cut above the rest performers’ (who were good, be it upcoming, amateur or professional dancers) “Meet” is very much needed which has been taking shape in the form of this beautiful and enchanting annual Dance Festival ‘Nruthya Bhushana’ hosted by the city’s very well-known dance centre ‘Bhushans Academy’ since 2007.

Bhushans Academy of Performing Arts and Visual Presentation, an Academy par excellence in the field of Bharatanatyam and Contemporary Dances, headed by internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam artiste couple Guru Badari Divya Bhushan and Guru Dr. Anjana Bhushan, popularly known as ‘Bhushans,’ has come up with this dream project once again for the 15th consecutive year after the successful ‘Abhinaya Bhushana’ for professional dancers, ‘Purusha Bhushana’ for male and couple dancers, ‘Udbhava Bhushana’ for child prodigies, ‘Nruthya Bhushana’ for upcoming dancers, ‘Vrunda Bhushana’ for group presentations, ‘Visistha Bhushana’ for contemporary presentations, ‘Poshaka Bhushana’ for dancers abroad since 2005.

Artistes from across India will be chosen meticulously to be a part of this Festival. Performances will be in the form of solo, duet, couple and group presentations which will be a visual treat for the art-lovers of Mysuru. Different classical forms like, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Mohiniyattam and Kuchipudi with specially worked themes are being presented at the Festival.

This year several stalwarts, accomplished, versatile eminent artistes, will be performing at this unique Festival with their productions. The event will be held at RamaGovinda Rangamandira in Ramakrishnanagar here from Nov. 12 to 14. Entry is free.

November 12

5.45 pm: Inauguration by R.G. Singh, Curator, Ramson’s Kala Pratishtana in the presence of celebrity artistes Roja Kannan, Maalika Panicker, Dr. Ranjani Ganesan Ramesh and Deepa Sashindran.

6 pm: ‘Thayga Rahasyam – Journey of a Soul’ presentation by internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam artiste Kalaimamani Roja Kannan and artistes of Bhartha Nruthyala, Chennai.

7.05 pm: Janani Thanaya Dhwaya – A unique Bharatanatyam presentation by mother and sons — Internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam artiste Kalaratna Dr. Anjana Bhushan and her sons Abhyuday Dhyan Bhushan and Abhignan Vedant Bhushan, Mysuru.

7.50 pm: ‘Nandanar Charitam’ by Kuchipudi exponent Deepa Sashindran and artistes of Kuchipudi Parampara Foundation, Bengaluru.

November 13

5 pm: Inauguration by Mandya Ramesh, acclaimed cine actor, Director, Natana Rangashale, Mysuru, in the presence of Dr. Shalvapillai Iyengar, Head of Archaeology Department, KSOU.

5.25 pm: ‘Samyuktha Sadhana’ – A grand Nrityopasana by Dr. Ranjani Ganesan Ramesh – In Devanrityam – Dance of Divine – Adelaide; Maalika Panicker – In Mohiniyattam, Dance of Enchantress – Singapore.

6.30 pm: ‘Ramanuja Dhanurdasa Vybhavam’ – A Mega Musical Dance Theatrical by internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam celebrity artiste couple Badari Divya Bhushan & Dr. Anjana Bhushan and artistes of Bhushans’ Academy of Performing Arts & Visual Presentation, Mysuru.

8.05 pm: ‘Shiva Shakthi Tatva’ – A Kathak presentation by Rujuta Soman, Sampada Pillai & disciples, Pune & Bengaluru.

November 14

5.45 pm: Inauguration by Natyacharya Prof. K. Ramamurthy Rao of Noopura Kalavidaru Samskrutika Trust, Mysuru.

6 pm: ‘Amma – The Untold Tale’ – A solo dance production based on Lord Krishna’s bond with his mothers by internationally acclaimed danseuse Karnataka Kala Tilaka Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy, Mysuru.

7.35 pm: ‘Sharanagathi – Surrender to Lord Nataraja,’ a Bharatanatyam presentation by Karnataka Kalashree Satyanarayana Raju, Bengaluru.

Entry for the event is free. The event is hosted by internationally acclaimed Bharatanatyam artiste Badari Divya Bhushan, Artistic Director, Bhushans’ Academy of Performing Arts & Visual Presentation.
