NSS students remove hyacinth weed at Kukkarahalli Lake

Mysore/Mysuru: NSS students of SBRR Mahajana First Grade College, Mysuru, cleaning the Kukkarahalli Lake of water hyacinth and other invasive weeds recently.

This weed, known as ‘Bengal Terror,’ obstructs sunlight thus reducing the quantum of oxygen gradually resulting in the death of fish and also the water body.

NSS Programme Officer C.S. Siddaraju,  Dr. K.M. Jayaramaiah of the Kukkarahalli Lake Conservation Committee and others were present.
