Mysuru: Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS) and University  of Mysore (UoM) Alumni Association had organised a Nudi Namana programme in memory of late Sri Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt in Tumakuru, at Rani Bahadur auditorium in city yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, writer Dr. G.R. Channabasappa opined that youth who have migrated from villages to cities and Government officers should try to improve the village they hail from. He pointed out that over six lakh villages in the country are without basic amenities.

He recalled that the late Siddaganga Seer dedicated his whole life for the welfare of rural children. Citing an incident, he said that the late Swamiji once saw two cows fighting each other at the Mutt and he (Swamiji) threw a bunch of grass at them which made the cows to stop their fight and began eating the grass. He contended that the late Seer realised that if everyone in society gets food easily, there would be no scope for any fight.

Dr. Channabasappa said that the late Swamiji always contended that Saints and politicians should work with honesty and dedication to ensure a prosperous and healthy society.
