Number of minors taking to crime on the rise

Since four years, 9,941 boys and 930 girls are involved in crime activities in the State

Mysuru: Number of minor boys and girls involving in criminal activities from 2020 to 2023 has increased in the State. This has come to light following the data released by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, Karnataka State Crime Records Bureau. The data was released following an application for the same under RTI Act by one Shruthi of a city-based NGO.

According to the data, a total of 9,941 minor boys and 930 minor girls from various districts of the State. From 2020 till 2023, a total of 1,414 minor boys and 174 minor girls from Mysuru city, Mysuru district, Chamarajanagar, Mandya, Hassan and Kodagu districts were involved in crimes. In 2020: 378 boys and 47 girls; 2021: 323 boys and 35 girls; 2022: 372 boys and 51 girls and in 2023: 341 boys and 41 girls were involved in crimes.
