Mysuru: Henceforth, the organisers of private parties where liquor and beer would be served for the invited guests should obtain ‘Occasional Licence: CL-5 Licence’ from the Excise Department.
Those who want to obtain the CL-5 License should submit their application a week before the event and obtain the licence by paying the prescribe licence fee.
After obtaining the licence, the organisers of the event or party should purchase liquor only from Karnataka State Beverages Corporation Ltd. (KSBCL). As per Karnataka Excise (Sale of Indian and Foreign Liquors) 1968 rule 8(5), a fee of Rs.10,000 per day and a cess of Rs.1,500 should be deposited to obtain the Occasional Licence.
The Deputy Commissioner of Excise has warned of initiating legal action against those serving liquor, beer, non-taxed liquor from Goa, foreign liquor and liquor from Military Canteen at private parties and events, according to a press release from the Excise Department Deputy Superintendent.
