Mysuru: As part of its Monthly Music Programme, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Mysuru Kendra, has organised Odissi dance programme by Anushree Padmanabha and team at BVB’s Prof. Y.T. Thathachari auditorium in Vijayanagar 1st Stage, at 6 pm tomorrow (Aug.15).
The team includes Aditi, an engineering student; N. Deepika, mental health profession; Greeshma, a Business Studies student; Ipshita, researcher by profession; Rashmi, a fashion designer and Sharada, a 12th grade student.
Profile: Anushree Padmanabha is a graded artiste of Doordarshan and an empanelled artiste with Spic Macay. An accomplished Odissi dancer, she is recognised for the depth, grace and lyrical sensitivity of her performances. She is also trained in Karnatak vocal music, warli art and yoga.
Drawn to the aesthetic elegance of Odissi, Anushree began her formal training under the guidance of Vidushi Smita Panigrahi, where she developed a strong foundation in technique. She further refined her art under the mentorship of renowned Odissi exponent and senior guru Karnataka Kalashri Sharmila Mukerjee at the Sanjali Centre for Odissi Dance, Bengaluru.
Anushree has attended several workshops conducted by eminent Odissi exponents including Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh and SNA awardees Aruna Mohanty and Aloka Kanungo. She has also successfully completed Phase I of Navarasa Sadhana, an actor-training methodology under Guru G. Venu.
She has performed internationally and has delivered performances in Seychelles, East Africa with her Guru and Sanjali Dance Ensemble.
Anushree co-founded the Kalaatapah Academy of Performing Arts in Mysuru with her husband, renowned violinist Mysore Karthik, with a vision to pass on the knowledge of Indian arts to future generations. She trains numerous students with dedication in the Kelucharan Mohapatra style of Odissi dance. Alongside rigorous training, she actively creates platforms for her students to perform, thereby nurturing both their artistic growth and confidence as performers.
She was conferred the ‘Nruthya Bhushana’ Award recently for her work in the field of dance.
