Siddapura (Kodagu): District officials visited the tribal settlement at Guddemadu coming under B. Shettigeri Gram Panchayat in Virajpet taluk for the second time on Sunday and persuaded them to vote in the coming LS election.
The tribals, said to be deprived of drinking water, are depending on water bodies in the forest for the last two decades.
The officials said that a borewell has been sunk at the place and assured that water problem would be resolved in two days.
They reassured that Title Deeds of houses would be issued to eligible tribals and assured to provide good road and power supply to the region.
The tribals lamented that they were languishing for the last 20 years without basic amenities.
They warned that they would boycott the poll if the assurances of the officials did not materialise.
Sector Officer Suresh said that he has collected the details of grievances of the tribals. He observed that some of the tribals have no documents of habitation which should be regularised at the Gram Panchayat. He added that only seven families have Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC).
Gram Panchayat Development Officer Ravi Thammaiah and others were present.
