June 29, 2018

Mysuru: The officials of the Women and Child Development Department, Women’s Helpline and N.R. Police, who raided a Kalyana Mantap in city on Wednesday, have prevented a child marriage from taking place. But the parents of both the bride and the groom, who learnt about the raid, helped the bride and groom to escape from the Kalyana Mantap.

The officials, acting on a tip off that a 17-year-old girl was being married to 26-year-old Kumar at KPTCL Kalyana Mantap in Raghavendranagar, raided the place. It is leant that both the bride and the groom were the residents of Rammanahalli.

When the officials inspected the school records of the girl, they found that she was 17-years-and-four-months-old but her Aadhaar card mentioned that the girl was 18-years-and-four-months-old.

N.R. Police have interrogated the Kalyana Mantap Manager, the priest and the parents of the bride and the groom in this regard.
