On using masks by riders with full face helmet

July 9, 2020

Sir,

The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) authorities and the Police are jointly collecting fines from people who are not wearing masks. Now a clarification is needed if a person driving a four-wheeler should be wearing the mask while driving or not.

Since the front wind-screen acts as a protective gear, wearing a mask and driving will be difficult as the oxygen supply reduces and it may prove fatal. But once the driver is out of the car, he should be pulling up the mask.

Similarly, a two-wheeler rider wearing a full face helmet with a visor may not be advisable to wear a mask as the visor itself is a protective gear for the rider. But once he removes the helmet he will have to wear his mask.

Hope the authorities concerned will clarify the above doubt in the minds of four-wheeler drivers and two-wheeler riders.
