One arrested for poaching deer

Hunsur: The Forest Department officials have arrested one person on charges of poaching a deer at Ayyanakere Tribal Hamlet in Nagarahole Reserve Forest and have launched a hunt to nab two others, who fled from the spot.

The arrested has been identified as Naga of Ayyanakere Tribal Hamlet.

When Deputy Range Forest Officer (DRFO) Shivakumar, Beat Forest Guard Kushal Jadav of Anechowkur Division – 2 in Hunsur Wildlife Range along with Anti Poaching Camp personnel were conducting their regular patrolling, they received a tip off about deer poaching and rushed to the house of Naga and found the deer with its skin removed and Naga separating the meat, following which the Forest staff arrested Naga and seized the deer meat, its pelt, one bag, two knives and two wood stumps used to chop the meat into pieces, ACF Lakshmikanth said.

Accused Naga has been remanded to judicial custody and a team has been formed to nab two others, who are absconding, said Nagarahole Project Tiger Director P.A. Seema.
