Mysore/Mysuru: City Crime Branch (CCB) Police, acting on a tip off, have arrested a person on charges of illegally storing sandalwood billets at a house in Muneshwara Nagar and smuggling them. The CCB Police, who raided the house on Sept. 18 have seized 50 kg billets and a case has been registered at Udayagiri Police Station.

It is learnt that the accused used to purchase sandalwood from thieves and used to sell them to others by smuggling them to other places.

It may be recalled that the CCB Police on Dec. 14, 2021 had busted a sandalwood smuggling racket in city and had seized about 700 kg sandalwood logs and billets worth about Rs. 1 crore.

DCP (Crime and Traffic) M.S. Geetha Prasanna and CCB ACP C.K. Ashwathnarayan guided Inspector A. Mallesh and staff Joseph Noronha, Janardhan Rao and Srinivas Prasad in the nabbing and seizing operation.
