One candidate files nomination on Day-1

Mysuru: Padmanabha Rao, a resident of Ramabai Nagar and an Independent candidate from Chamundeshwari Constituency, is the first candidate to file one set of nomination papers with the Returning Officer at Mini Vidhana Soudha here this morning in the run up for the 2018 Assembly polls scheduled for May 12.

Returning Officers (RO) of all 11 Constituencies are geared up to receive nominations since this morning, but only one candidate filed his nomination.

Nomination papers will be received between 11 am and 3 pm.

The last date for filing nominations in Apr. 24 and scrutiny of nominations will take place on Apr. 25. Last date to withdraw nominations is Apr. 27 and last date for public canvassing is May 11.

Polling will take place on May 12 and counting of votes will be held on May 15.
