Mysuru: “There is a clear difference between physical property and intellectual property. There are different forms of intellectual property like Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks, Industrial design rights, Plant Varieties, Trade Secrets, Trade designs,” said Dr. M. N. Bheemesh, Hon. Director, National Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, Mysuru.
He was speaking at a one-day seminar on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ organised by the PG Department of Commerce, JSS College of Arts, Commerce & Science, here recently.
He stressed on why we have to claim a patent for our innovations and mentioned that if our innovations are new, has inventory steps, helpful to society and is inventible for working innovations, then one should claim a patent of such innovation.
Advocate M.S. Vanitha, speaking on the topic, “Patents, Trade Mark and Copyright: Procedural Aspects” gave a brief introduction about the several procedural aspects like registration, renewal, removal of patents, copyrights and trademarks.
JSS College Chief Executive Prof. B V Sambashivaiah, in his Presidential remarks, highlighted the importance of Intellectual Property Rights.
Principal Prof. M. Mahadevappa was present. Chairperson of PG Department of Commerce Dr. H.C. Honnappa welcomed. First year M.Com students H.M. Sumalatha and H.S. Gayathri, rendered the invocation. Assistant Professor Dr. G.S. Asha proposed a vote of thanks. Second year M.Com Student M.D. Chondamma compered.
