One killed, three injured as car hits bikes

Periyapatna:  One person was killed and three others injured, when a car hit their bikes near Echur village on Periyapatna-Bettadapura road on Nov. 1.

The deceased is identified as Manjunath (30) of Bhuvanahalli who was riding one of the bikes. His pillion rider Kumar along with Ravi and Girish riding on the other bike were injured and treated at Periyapatna General Hospital and later shifted to a hospital in Mysuru.

The car was said to have sped away after hitting the two bikes and was traced near Nandipura with the driver missing. Bettadapura Police have registered the case.

Manjunath was said to be going to his sister’s house in Periyapatna to hand over the Prasadam of Male Mahadeshwara Temple when the tragedy struck. He leaves behind his wife Lakshmi and two children Samarth and Sandhya studying at Anganawadi.

Dy.SP Sundar Raj and Circle Inspector Pradeep visited the accident spot.
