Mysuru: In a tragic incident, one person was killed and two persons were seriously injured when a Tempo Traveller rammed into them, when they were standing on a road divider to cross the road in Bilikere yesterday.
While the deceased has been identified as Rajanna (42), a resident of Thekkanakoppal in Bilikere hobli, the seriously injured have been identified as 32-year-old Lokesh and 42-year-old Puttaraju, both from Thekkanakoppal.
The incident took place when the trio, after purchasing plumbing items at a shop in Bilikere, were standing on the road divider to go to a hotel opposite the plumbing shop for lunch, when the speeding Tempo Traveller coming from Hunsur side rammed into them, injuring all of them seriously. Soon after the mishap, the driver of the Tempo Traveller fled from the spot leaving behind the vehicle with tourists said to be from Shivamogga.
While Ranjanna breathed his last while being shifted to the hospital, the seriously injured Lokesh and Puttaraju are undergoing treatment at JSS Hospital in Mysuru.
Bilikere Police have registered a case in this regard.
