One more Mysuru-Hyderabad flight from September

August 8, 2019

TruJet to operate to Belagavi, Chennai from Oct.27

Mysuru: One more flight is going to be introduced between Mysuru and Hyderabad in the first week of Sept.

IndiGo Airlines has come forward to start the flights between these two cities and the Airports Authority of India is making all preparations to provide facilities for them. Though Sept.8 has been set as the day to start operations between Mysuru-Hyderabad, this has still not been finalised.

The officials of IndiGo have come to Mysuru a few times earlier to assess the feasibility of flying their airlines between the two cities. Seeing that there is a huge demand for additional flights, the officials are toying with the idea of starting daily operations close to the commencement of Dasara.

Flights to Belagavi, Chennai from Oct.27: Meanwhile, TruJet which is already operating daily flights to Chennai in the evening from Mysore Airport in Mandakalli is planning to introduce one more flight and according to sources, this flight could be operated in the mornings.

They are also planning to introduce a new flight to Belagavi and operations to both the places are likely to start from Oct.27.

Huge demand: There is huge demand for flights to Mangaluru, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram from Mysuru and in the coming days a few airlines are thinking of starting operations daily from here, said the sources.

At present there is very good response from passengers to Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi and Goa. Except Bengaluru, flights to all other cities are showing 85 per cent occupancy, it is learnt.

Only those passengers going to other places from Bengaluru are choosing the flight to Bengaluru but not those going just to Bengaluru from Mysuru. This is because a lot of time is wasted driving from the city to Mysore Airport and from Kempegowda International Airport to Bengaluru city.

City Bus service: There are already five flights operating out of Mysuru and KSRTC is introducing Volvo buses from Aug.15, picking up passengers from different parts of city.

It may also be recalled that Air Alliance, the subsidiary of Air India introduced three new flights to Hyderabad, Goa and Kochi from Mysuru on July 19, this year. The airport which is already buzzing with activity will become more busy if three more new flights are introduced which amounts to a total of eight flights daily from Mysore Airport.

Additional rail service to Mysuru

The daily Bengaluru-Kochuveli Express has been extended to Mysuru. Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha had urged the Union Minister of Railways and Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal to extend Train No. 16315/16316 Bengaluru-Kochuveli Express up to Mysuru and on his request the train service has been extended. The train will leave Bengaluru at 8.35 am and reach Mysuru at 11.20 am and it will leave Mysuru at 12.50 pm.
