One-week FDP on Sustainable Development in Civil Engineering

Mysore/Mysuru: The Department of Civil Engineering at Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) is organising a one-week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) entitled “Sustainable Development in Civil Engineering” from Aug. 3 to 8. 

The FDP has been planned in six important fields of Civil Engineering and the resource persons have been chosen from the premier institutions in the country and abroad as well. 

This FDP will help the faculty members to redefine their horizons in recent advancements in Civil Engineering which require sustainable infrastructure construction. It will also enhance better teaching ability with respect to sustainable development in Civil Engineering.

Aug. 3: Topic –  Sustainable Green City using Geoinformatics; Speaker – Dr. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, Professor, School of Engineering and Technology, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.

Aug. 4:  Topic –  Recycling Techniques for Sustainable Pavements; Speaker – Dr. A. Veeraragavan, Professor of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Chennai.

Aug. 5: Topic – Energy Geostructures and Sustainable Geotechnical Engineering Practice; Speaker – Dr. G. R. Dodagoudar, Professor of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Chennai.

Aug. 6: Topic – Understanding Sustainability – Adopt, Assess & Mitigate; Speaker – Dr. Ajit Sabnis, Principal Consultant, ASP-SDI Sustainability Assessment Consultancy Firm, Bengaluru.

Aug. 7: Topic – Urban Noise Pollution – Sources, Impacts, Measurements & Control; Speaker – Dr. Harish Puleria, Assistant Professor in Climate Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, Mumbai.

Aug. 8: Topic – Energy Efficiency and Green Building; Speaker – Dr. N. Gopalakrishnan, Director, CBRI, Roorkee Uttrakhand.

The present pandemic situation has taught one important lesson that knowledge-building can also be done effectively through online mode. Keeping this in mind, the present FDP is proposed in webinar mode and will be conducted between 11 am and 12.30 pm on all the days.
