Online approval for House and Building Plans: A good move

Sir,

It was heart-warming to read the news that house and building plans will be approved online (SOM dated Feb. 26). This process has been effectively followed by many Urban Development and Statutory Bodies.

The key to this process is based on 3 critical factors, which need to be addressed by MCC, MUDA and District Town Planning Committee.

1. Simplification of bye-laws (Ref: Master Plan II – 2031 Mysore Nanjangud Local Planning Area : Zoning of Land Use and Development Control Regulations – Volume III), which do not need interpretation by middlemen.

2. Clarity in land-use and regulations connected with each type of land-use.

3. Establishing a preliminary method for answering queries by “Council of Architecture” approved Architects.

These steps will not only speed up the process but will also ensure that future development is possible without resorting to demolition etc.

I am confident that a lot of well-meaning Mysuru-based Architects will be willing to assist the authorities in establishing a smooth “House and Building Plans approval online” system.
