Online Veena recital on Jan. 15

January 13, 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Ganabharathi has organised an online veena recital by Vidushi Mysore S. Rajalakshmi on Jan. 15 at 6 pm. She will be  accompanied by Vidwan H.L. Shivashankaraswamy  on the mridanga and Vidwan M.R. Manjunath on the ghata. This  programme will be available on both Ganabharathi facebook and YouTube pages.

Rajalakshmi, one of the leading exponents of Veena, entered the world of music as a child prodigy. She started learning from her father Vidwan Shamanna, who was a violinist. She was honed into a matured artiste by Ganakalabhushana Vidwan M.J. Sreenivasa Iyengar.

Dr. Shivashankarswamy, a senior mridanga artiste, is currently working as an ‘A’ grade staff artiste at All India Radio. He is also the founder of ‘Layavidya Pratishtana’, a percussion academy in Mysuru, nurturing aspiring students of percussion.
