Online workshop for Tamil Teachers and Research Scholars held

Mysuru: A five-day online Training-cum-Workshop on Testing and Evaluation for Assistant Professors, Teachers (Secondary & Higher Secondary) and Research Scholars of Tamil from all over India, was held at National Testing Service-India (NTS-I) of Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru, from Nov. 23.

In his inaugural address, Prof. P. Perumalsamy, Deputy Director, CIIL, said that any activity undertaken by CIIL is for the development of Indian languages and the contribution being made by NTS-I involves the participants of the entire teaching community and the ultimate beneficiary are the class students at all the seven levels of education — from primary to research.

Prof. P.R. Dharmesh Fernandez, Professor-cum-Deputy Director, CIIL and Head, NTS-I, told the participants to make use of the lessons given by the institutional experts as well as the external experts. 

He further added that if the knowledge and skill gained here is used in the classrooms it will enable the students to face any competitive or entrance exams with confidence.

Prof. P. Ratnasabapathy, former Director, TIERA, Chennai; Prof. T. Sethupandian, former Professor of Linguistics, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai; Prof. Sam Mohanlal, former Professor-cum- Deputy Director, CIIL and Dr. M. Balakumar, former Head, NTS-I, CIIL  and NTS-I faculties Dr. V. Ilangovan, Dr. R. Shakunthala, Dr. A.R. Muthukkaruppan, Dr. A. Eswaran and technical JRPs Ancy Thomas and K.S. Raghavan trained the participants in various academic and technical sessions of this online workshop.

Dr. Pankaj Dwivedi, Lecturer-cum-Junior Research Officer, CIIL and  Officer-In Charge, NTS-I, coordinated the five-day workshop. Prof. C.G. Venkatesha Murthy, Director, CIIL, Mysuru, was the overall patron of the workshop. 

About 68 Assistant Professors, School Teachers and Research Scholars, who are engaged in teaching of Tamil from various Schools, Universities and Colleges of India, participated in this online training.
