e-Khata drive to continue from Nov. 5 to 7
Mysuru: Mysuru city has more than 2.10 lakh properties, but only 78,750 have been issued e-Khatas, accounting for about 38 percent of the total.
Urban Development and Mysuru District in-Charge Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah has directed Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials to launch a special campaign for the timely issuance of building permits, on the lines of the ongoing e-Khata drive.
Speaking after inaugurating a special public service e-Khata distribution programme at the MCC premises on Saturday, the Minister symbolically handed over e-Khata certificates to beneficiaries.
He said, he had received complaints about delays in the approval and issuance of building permits and directed officials to take up a focused campaign to address the problem.

The Minister announced that the campaign would continue from Nov. 5 to 7 and urged property owners to make use of the facility. He also called for similar campaigns to be conducted in all Urban Local Bodies.
Admitting that several civic issues remained unresolved within the MCC limits, he assured that efforts would continue to address them.
Preference to private layouts
MLA Tanveer Sait questioned the delay in addressing property-related grievances of ordinary citizens, while applications concerning private layouts handed over to the MCC by the Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) were reportedly processed swiftly.
The MLA told Regional Commissioner and MCC Administrator Nitesh Patil that officials should examine why such a difference existed in handling applications. “Decentralising the process and continuing the campaign at Zonal offices is welcome. However, private layouts developed by the MDA are handed over to the Corporation. I had written a letter stating that Khatas should be issued only after all basic infrastructure and amenities are provided. Yet, our officials act swiftly on applications relating to private layouts but fail to respond with the same urgency to other citizens. Officials should understand why this is happening,” he said.
He also pointed out that applications seeking corrections to errors made by MCC officials while issuing Khatas remained pending for five or six months.
Zilla Panchayat CEO S. Ukesh Kumar, DC G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, MCC Commissioner M.K. Savitha, former MLC Venugopal, KEA Chairman Ayub Khan, MCC Guarantee Schemes Implementation Committee Chairperson Pushpavalli, former Mayor Arif Hussain and others were present.
80.80% progress
At the special e-Khata campaign held on Oct. 28, the MCC received 730 applications, of which 590 were processed. 140 applications remained pending due to the non-availability of Encumbrance Certificates (ECs).
The campaign has achieved 80.80% progress. In Zone-1, 57 applications were received, of which e-Khatas have been prepared for 44 applications. In Zone-2, 99 out of 136 applications; Zone-3, 121 out of 150; Zone-4, 45 out of 47; Zone-5, 44 out of 48; Zone-6, 36 out of 44; Zone-7, 70 out of 84; Zone-8, 67 out of 73 and Zone-9, 60 out of 91 applications have been processed and e-Khatas prepared.
