City and District Police initiate action

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru City and District Police have initiated action against those allowing people to consume liquor at public places in city and surrounding places.

NR Police recently raided a public place opposite a wine store on Kuri Mandi Road in N.R. Mohalla and found four to five people consuming liquor there.

A wine store can only sell liquor but cannot allow people to consume it. But the wine store management was allowing people to consume liquor which was leading to a lot of inconvenience to the public following which the Police issued a notice to the Manager of the wine store and initiated further action.

At Devegowdanahundi village coming under Varuna Police limits in the taluk, a shop was allowing people to consume liquor at a public place following which the Police initiated action against the shop owner. At Kalluru village in Yelwal Police limits, a woman was allowing people to consume alcohol at a public place in front of a house following which the Police took the woman into custody and have interrogated her.

The city’s Outer Ring Road (ORR) and outskirts have turned into an open bar with people in groups enjoying their daily dose of liquor openly. Once they get high, they indulge in fights, speaking loudly, abusing others using foul language, breaking empty bottles on roads, thus creating a sense of fear among the public and calling Police to initiate action to stop this menace.
