Open gambling at M.G. Road Market

October 14, 2026

Sir,

Gambling involving playing cards and money is taking place openly during the day in the M.G. Road Market area. The activity is causing inconvenience and a sense of insecurity among women, pedestrians, farmers, workers and others who visit or work in the area.

What is particularly concerning is that the issue has already been brought to the notice of the Police Department and the authorities, with complaints being lodged.

However, no effective action appears to have been taken so far. Despite this, gambling continues in the open, causing concern among residents and the public.

The authorities should inspect the area, verify the complaints and take appropriate legal action if the allegations are found to be true. Public places should be safe and accessible to everyone.
