Open garbage dump in J.P. Nagar a health hazard

October 26, 2026

Sir,

I wish to draw the urgent attention of the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to the unhygienic conditions caused by the accumulation of garbage at an open dumping ground in J.P. Nagar.

I am a retired person who chose to settle in Mysuru, hoping to enjoy a peaceful, clean and healthy life after years of service. Unfortunately, the garbage dump has become a serious nuisance for residents.

The foul stench emanating from the accumulated waste is unbearable, both during the day and at night. Residents find it difficult to open their windows, sit outdoors or enjoy fresh air in their own homes. The situation is particularly distressing for senior citizens and children.

The exposed garbage attracts flies, mosquitoes and stray animals, creating unhygienic surroundings and increasing the risk of health problems.

The authorities must clear the accumulated waste without delay, clean and sanitise the site and ensure that garbage does not pile up again.

After years of service, retired citizens deserve to spend their lives in a clean and healthy environment rather than endure the daily nuisance of an uncleared garbage dump.

Residents pay property taxes and other civic charges expecting essential services in return. It is unfair that tax-paying citizens should have to put up with unbearable stench and unhygienic conditions despite regular household garbage collection.

I appeal to the MCC and the concerned sanitation authorities to take immediate action to clear the garbage and prevent further accumulation. The problem requires a lasting solution, not merely temporary relief.
